Important Deadline this Week
  1. Payment 3 is due, Thursday, May 23
 
NEW AWARD FOR CAMPERS - Honor Camper Award
  • Each unit will select an honor camper.
  • The unit determines the criteria for selecting the honor camper.
  • Honor campers will be recognized at the Friday evening recognitions campfire. Please make plans to stay through the campfire.
  • Honor campers will receive a special 3” pewter-finished medal featuring the CSR rifle logo suspended from a navy-blue ribbon.
 
Leadership Challenge
  • We created the Leadership Challenge program in response to the demand from SPLs for a program that helped them to be better leaders.
  • We encourage you to enroll your current and future youth leaders in the program.
  • Chris Cobitz, Scoutmaster of Troop 51, encourages Scouts to participate in the Leadership Challenge. Check out this video.
  • Scouts who complete the Leadership Challenge will receive this 3”x4” fully embroidered patch at the Friday evening recognitions campfire.

​Counselor-in-Training Applications
  • Our Counselor-in-Training program is a leadership development program designed to prepare Scouts to instruct other Scouts.
  • Open to Scouts who are 14 years old or older.
  • There is no fee.
  • There are 10 positions available each week of camp.
  • We have begun scheduling CIT applicants for their week at camp.
 
Camp Staff Vacancies
  • We still have the following vacancies on the camp staff.
    • 1 Assistant Provisional Scoutmaster (21 years old or older)
    • 1 Dining Hall Steward (15 years old or older)
  • Submit a camp staff application to [email protected].
 
Changes to Adult Leader Training Schedule
  • I made a mistake on the original Adult Leader Training Schedule.
  • I have flipped the time slots for Swim & Water Rescue and Paddle Craft Safety to they align with the Merit Badge & Activity Schedule.

12-Day-Out Meetings
  • 12-Day-Out Meetings will occur at the Council Office in Greensboro.
  • Units will schedule appointments between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm. If needed, we will schedule beyond 7:00 pm.
  • Call Kristina Edmondson at 336-378-9166 to schedule your 12-Day-Out Meeting
  • Schedule
    • Week 1 – Tuesday, June 4
    • Week 2 – Tuesday, June 12
    • Week 3 – Tuesday, June 18
    • Week 4 – Tuesday, June 25
    • Week 5 – Tuesday, July 2
    • Week 6 – Tuesday, July 9
  • 12-Day-Out-Meetings accomplish the following tasks:
  1. Obtain Camp Attendance Roster (allows for us to check membership and youth protection training status of all campers and adult leaders prior to arrival in camp)
  2. Reconcile fees paid / receive late payments (goal is to take no payments at CSR on Sunday)
  3. Process refund requests
  4. Obtain health forms
  5. Obtain pre-camp swim check forms
  6. Obtain dietary needs form
  7. Make changes to camper merit badge schedules
  8. Distribute pre-ordered memorabilia
  • Units that participate in the 12-Day-Out Meeting will receive a $20 discount on the unit’s entire bill for summer camp.
  • Out-of-Council Units
    • We will host 12-Day-Out meetings for out-of-council units via phone or video chat
    • We will make individual appointments for out-of-council units on the Wednesday or Thursday following the established 12-Day-Out meeting.
    • I will email you to schedule the appointment.
    • All forms should be submitted to the council office prior to the 12-Day-Out-Meetings.
    • Old North State Council, 1405 Westover Terrace, Greensboro, NC 27408
    • We will accept their payments over the phone.
    • For participating in a 12-Day-Out meeting, the $20 discount will be applied towards their final bill.
 
Memorabilia Update
  • Thank you to those units who submitted memorabilia pre-orders.
  • During the pre-order period, we sold 160 forest green camper t-shirts, 8 lime green t-shirts, and 20 royal blue t-shirts.
  • We will order the minimum number lime green and royal blue t-shirts to fulfill the pre-orders, but it is clear the popular t-shirt color is forest green.
  • We will only have the forest green t-shirt available for purchase in the trading post at summer camp.
 
Payment 3 is due Thursday, May 23
  • Scouts who paid the early bird fee owe $105.
  • Scouts who did not pay the early bird fee owe $115.

NEW TOOL in Summer Camp Systems – Payment Transfers
  • You now have the ability to transfer funds between Scouts
  • Only transfer the funds your unit paid
  • Do not transfer credits applied to your account by camp management
  • To transfer funds, go to UNIT USER MENU
  • Under Other Items (far right-hand column), click Payment Transfer
  • Use the drop down boxes to select Scouts you wish to transfer funds between
 
Paying for Adults
  • Units receive 2 free adults
  • Adults who attend the entire week pay $130.
  • Adults who attend part of the week pay by the meal at $8.50 per meal.
    • They can prepay.
    • They can pay upon arrival.
    • They can pay before they leave.
  • Summer Camp Systems is not set up to take adult payments (yet).
  • Summer Camp Systems thinks all entries are campers and charges them $335.
  • If you want to use Summer Camp Systems to pay for your adults, you will not be able to do it by May 23. We are working on a solution that will not be ready by then.
  • You can still pay for your adults using cash or check.
  • We can close-out the payment for adults at the 12-Day-Out Meetings.
