Scouts BSA Summer Camp 2020 + UseLetter 7 – Payment 2 & Campership Deadline Reminder

Important Deadlines this Week
  1. Payment 2 due Thursday, April 23
  2. Campership requests due Thursday, April 23
 
Camp Operations
  • We continue to make plans and preparations to offer six full weeks of summer camp.
  • We continue to monitor the directives from NC Governor Cooper regarding the stay-at-home order and guidance from the state and local health officials.
 
Camp Staff Vacancies
  • We still have the following vacancies on the camp staff.
    • 5 Aquatics Instructors (16 years old or older)
    • 1 Trading Post Clerk (16 years old or older)
    • 1 Nature Instructor (16 years old or older)
  • Submit a camp staff application to [email protected].
 
Counselor-in-Training Applications
  • Our Counselor-in-Training program is a leadership development program designed to prepare Scouts to instruct other Scouts.
  • Open to Scouts who are 14 years old or older.
  • There is no fee.
  • There are 10 positions available each week of camp.
  • We begin schedule CIT positions in mid-May.
 
Payment 2 is due Thursday, April 23
  • Scouts who paid the early bird fee owe $110.
  • Scouts who did not pay the early bird fee owe $115.
 
Submitting Payment 2
  • You have three options for submitting Payment 2 
  • Option 1: The preferred method for submitting Payment 2 is via the online merit badge registration tool – Summer Camp Systems – with a credit card.
  • NOTE: Now that Scouts are enrolled in merit badges, you will select CALCULATE BALANCE and MAKE A PAYMENT from the Payment Dashboard
  • Directions for submitting payments via Summer Camp Systems.

  • Option 2: You may submit a payment over the phone using a credit card/debit card. Send me an email at[email protected] to schedule a time for us to connect on the phone. I can process your payment over the phone using Square.
  • Option 3: You may submit a unit check made payable to Old North State Council, 1405 Westover Terrace, Greensboro, NC 27408
    • Remember, the council service center is closed for normal business operations due to the COVID-19 stay-at-home order.
    • All mail will be held at the Greensboro Post Office.
    • It will be May before we are able to retrieve the mail.
    • Your payment will be safe. It just will not be allocated to your account until received.
  • Regardless of how you submit your payment, please allocate your funds to Scouts in Summer Camp Systems.
  • There are two tools to help you collect funds from families.
    • The Unit Balance Report shows you how much each Scout has paid.
    • The Transaction History show you the transactions for individual Scouts.
      • This report shows funds submitted by you and parents, credits (early birds and camperships) applied by camp, and refunds applied by camp.
      • You can use this report as a bill for families to show how much is still owed.
 
Unallocated Funds
  • This video shows you how to allocate the unallocated fund towards a Scout’s fees.
 
Transfer Funds Among Scouts
  • You can transfer funds between Scouts by using the Payment Transfer tool.
  • On the Unit User Menu, the Payment Transfer Tool can be found under the OTHER ITEMS heading.​

​Reminder: Payment 3
  • Payment 3 and full payment of fees are due on Thursday, May 28.
  • We will not charge a late fee this year.
Campership Deadline
  • Campership applications are due Thursday, April 23.
  • Assist your families in submitting a complete campership application.
    • Complete application with signatures.
    • Necessary documentation.
    • $20 deposit.
  • This will ensure the campership review committee has all the information necessary to review the application.
  • We will review camperships on Thursday, April 30.
  • You will receive notice of campership awards via email by Monday, May 4.
  • Camperships will be credited the Scout’s account in Summer Camp Systems on Monday, May 4.
  • Typically, we would mail families a notice of the campership award. Depending upon when the council service center reopens for operation, we may depend upon the unit leader to inform the family of the award.
  • Camperships are available to in-council and out-of-council units attending Old North State-sponsored camps.
 
Unit Memorabilia Pre-Orders
  • Unit Memorabilia Pre-orders are due Thursday, May 14.
  • Collect your unit orders using the Individual Memorabilia Order Form.
  • When you check out, put your unit number in NOTE TO MERCHANT TEXT BOX.

  • For in-council units, unit pre-orders will be delivered at your 12-Day-Out Meetings.
  • For out-of-council units, unit pre-orders will be delivered to your campsite during your arrival at camp on Sunday afternoon.
