Shotgun Shooting Merit BadgeClass size is limited to 12, to assure adequate range time. The minimum age requirement is 12 years old. Each shooter receives his own personalized eye & ear protection. On Sunday, there will be a safety briefing starting at 7:20pm for all Scouts taking the merit badge. This meeting is MANDATORY for everyone, even if the Scout took the Rifle merit badge the previous year. Those who are not present will have to attend a make-up meeting which will be held during 1st meal on Tuesday. If the make-up meeting is missed, the scout will have to schedule an additional make-up meeting with the Shooting Sports Director.

Scouts must be of sufficient stature and have the strength & stamina required to safely handle the shotgun for the duration required to qualify for the badge requirements. Shooting experience highly recommended. If the instructor determines that a Scout is unable to meet the physical requirements, the Scout will need to be placed in another class.
