50th Anniversary Celebration Camp Improvement Project in honor of Dr. C. E. Patterson

To leave a physical mark on camp that celebrates its 50th anniversary, the camp will undertake a camp improvement project. Here are the project details.
  • The project will honor Dr. C. E. (Doc) Patterson
  • Doc Patterson was a long-time assistant provisional scoutmaster at Cherokee and at Camps Wenasa and Nekwasi prior to the merger of the Cherokee and Old North State Councils. Doc also served as a lodge adviser, Scoutmaster, and council volunteer.
  • Because of his many years of volunteering as an assistant provisional scoutmaster, many, many Scouts were able to participate in summer camp as Provisional campers
  • To honor his commitment to the Provisional troop, Ossipee campsite – home to the Provisional troop during the summer – will become the Dr. C.E. Patterson Provisional Campsite
  • In naming the campsite in honor of Doc Patterson, the following improvements will be made to the campsite:
    • Construct 5 adirondacks that each sleep 4 Scouts
    • Build a permanent gateway
    • Add electricity to the campsite shelter
    • Add a concrete floor to the shelter
  • Amount of funds needed: $20,000
  • Donors who give at least $500 will be recognized by having their names added to the memorial plaque
  • The goal is raise the funds by December 31, 2018
  • The campsite improvements will not take place until the funds are completely raised
  • We anticipate these campsite improvements will be ready for Summer Camp 2019
  • Contributions can be made via the web or by mailing a contribution form to Doc Patterson Provisional Campsite, Old North State Council, 1405 Westover Terrace, Greensboro, NC 27408
